Shepard Prince owns Midwest Nerd Chick, a tech education company that helps non-tech and dev people learn new skills. Shepard started Midwest Nerd Chick in 2017 after they realized there was a lack of resources available to people who wanted to know about tech but didn’t have a tech background.
Shepard is a bisexual genderqueer individual who uses he/they pronouns. They are also physically disabled and have mental health challenges. Shepard’s experiences with disability and mental health have shaped their work at Midwest Nerd Chick. They are committed to creating a space where everyone feels welcome and supported, regardless of their background or abilities.
In addition to running Midwest Nerd Chick, Shepard is also the founder of The Alphabet Project. The Alphabet Project is an idea and dream that Shepard has for an organization that provides resources and support to the LGBTQIA+ community, focusing on disabled and neurodivergent youth. Shepard started The Alphabet Project after their children came out as LGBTQIA+, and they saw the lack of support available to them.
Shepard is passionate about using their skills and experiences to help others. They believe that everyone deserves access to education and support, regardless of their background or abilities. They are committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable world for everyone.
They have lived in Wichita for over 20 years, and along with their 4 children, they have been happily married to their life partner for 5 years. Their already full house is also home to 4 cats, 3 snakes, 2 bearded dragons, 1 leopard gecko,1 axolotl, and an outside cat colony.
